Women of the Bible Study - Bernice
The name Bernice means bring victory. She was the eldest daughter of Herod Agrippa and a member of the Herodian family. She is the sister of Drusilla. Scripture mentions her in Acts 25:13, 23; 26:30 briefly where we learn little about who she is yet resources say she is a woman with an immoral reputation. Bernice is reputed to have had an incestuous relationship with her brother Agrippa.
Paul presented the gospel before the governor, Agrippa, Bernice, and the entourage yet there is no indication that Bernice made the choice to turn from her immoral ways. The lineage of Christ contains a prostitute Rahab, but unlike Rahab, Bernice harden her heart and continued to sin.
Shame and hardness of heart has kept many from the Lord. Many are burdened with a past that we are ashamed. Reminder Christ Jesus forgives, welcomes with open arms, and wipes away our past transforming our lives and giving us hope for a brighter future.
